Job Scope
Reporting to the Finance Director, the US Controller is responsible for the timely and accurate financial reporting of Wenzel Downhole’s US based affiliates, within the Basin group of companies. This position will work with operations to ensure procedures are being followed and with business administrators to ensure our systems are relevant to the business activity and reporting is timely and accurate.
This position is based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and will require periodic travel to corporate foreign affiliates.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Cash management, including weekly cash balances and vendor payment forecasting
- ERP system maintenance including review of daily posting of accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory transactions, employee time entry
- Creation of ad hoc analyses for management, corporate accounting, and M&A groups
- Timely month end financial reporting and analysis, and quarterly forecasting
- Provide timely information to sales division with respect to customer account volumes and balances
- Preparation of monthly working papers and support for audits as required
- Be a liaison between operations and finance departments of the organization
- Ability to communicate effectively with groups in remote locations
- Organize and prepare domestic sales and use and inventory tax returns
- Working with corporate accounting and other divisions of the organization to ensure intercompany flow of transactions is processed properly and intercompany accounts agree
- Perform a monthly review of financial statements with financial and operations management
- Communicate with business analysts and developers to ensure that the ERP continues to meet the requirements of the business
- Ability to support management in forecasting and reporting on separate business streams and provide recommendations for improvement
- Support the parent company finance department for any additional requirements that may arise
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Undergraduate degree with major in accounting
- Preference given to candidates with professional accounting designation
- Minimum of three (3) years’ controllership experience
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient using computer systems (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Knowledge of ERP systems, with preference given to those with EPICOR experience
- Periodic travel to foreign corporate affiliates will be required
